How Gebr. Becker is building a Vacuum-as-a-Service model for industrial vacuum systems

Together with Findustrial, Gebr. Becker is developing a new way to bring their vacuum pumps and systems to market, complementing equipment sales with a subscription-based service model.

Vacuum-as-a-Service on a subscription basis

Customers access Becker's vacuum systems as an ongoing service instead of a one-off purchase, with service and reliability built into the model.

A pragmatic answer to customer-specific piping

The piping is built into the customer's site and stays there, so Becker covers it through a hire-purchase option: after five years the piping transfers to the customer, rather than becoming an upfront barrier.

A new recurring revenue layer

Complementing machine sales with longer-term contracts, typically starting around four years, matched to how much customer-specific equipment is installed.

"If we don't do it ourselves, someone else will. That thought was the starting point. In other industries we have seen what happens when manufacturers react too late. Compressed air has been established as a service for twenty years, and office printing has been billed per copy for a long time. Whoever waits until a competitor offers a usage-based model has already lost control of the pricing. That is why we set up Vacuum-as-a-Service while we still had the time to do it properly."
