FAQs about Findustrial, pay-per-use and as-a-service models

We explain everything about pay-per-use and as-a-service and are happy to answer your questions about it

General information about pay-per-use

Pay-per-use is a billing model in which the monthly rate to be paid is linked to a usage variable and thus becomes variable.

From the asset user’s perspective, pay-per-use is the billing model. Equipment-as-a-Service is that offering which is provided by the asset manufacturer. Additional services for the equipment, such as maintenance, servicing, etc., are offered as a uniform service (all-in package) and charged to the user on a usage basis.

When buying on installments or leasing, there are fixed predefined installments and also terms. With pay-per-use financing, however, rates are flexible because they depend on the actual use of the asset. This also results in different runtimes.

Usage data is transmitted to Findustrial via internet/cloud. Findustrial calculates the respective rate and reports it to the financing partner.

No, pay-per-use is possible and makes sense in almost every sector where there can be basically fluctuating plant utilisation. Pay-per-use exists both in the stationary sector (all types of production machinery) and in the mobile sector (construction machinery, agriculture, trucks). In addition, very many aggregates in so-called ancillary areas (cooling, heating, ventilation, lighting) are billed via pay-per-use. A strongly growing area is also the topic of photovoltaics, where you then only pay according to the KWh produced by the system.

If the rates increase due to increasing utilization of the plant, the term is automatically reduced and vice versa. Thus, the asset user never pays more than the original financing amount. With higher rates, the user saves significant interest by reducing the term, which can be a huge advantage in times of rising interest rates.

IoT connectivity and data usage

An IoT connection is a direct data link to the financed asset. In the case of pay-per-use, usage data is transmitted in real time to the Findustrial platform via the IoT connection to calculate monthly rates.

Findustrial takes care of the data connection together with the manufacturer. If the manufacturer is already working with Findustrial, the equipment is already prepared for pay-per-use.

In fact, only the defined data streams for the use of the plant are needed to determine the financing rates, and not the entire machine data. This can be, for example, the daily operating hours of the machine or the pieces produced. We do not collect any other data.

No, it depends on the contractual relationship with the manufacturer. If the financing is pure sales financing, only the asset user and the financing partner have access to the data so that they can also be settled per period. However, if the manufacturer has signed a take-back agreement that helps with the favorable financing of the equipment or if services are also provided by the manufacturer, the manufacturer also has access to the usage data so that the service intervals can be determined in the best possible way.

Good to know for asset users

If your house bank is already a Findustrial partner, by all means! However, it must be clarified on a case-by-case basis whether your house bank can handle the variable installments. However, we also draw on our worldwide network of financiers to facilitate the best terms and conditions.

Pay-per-use lease financing takes into account the tax legislation of the respective country in order to make the installments fully tax-deductible.

Not necessarily, by potentially reducing the term, you can save significantly on interest as an asset user. This means that if business is good, higher instalments are due and the term is automatically reduced. The additional costs of the data connection result in additional costs of approx. 0.2-0.5% p.a. for a comparable runtime, but these can be far more than compensated for by the flexibility of pay-per-use.

The advantage lies in linking the repayments to the use of the plant. If the investment runs well, more can be paid back. If business deteriorates, the financing rates are reduced fully automatically without having to contact the financing partner. By documenting the usage data, higher second-hand values can also be achieved.

No, the costs for data connection and data transmission are already included in the financing rates.

With pay-per-use lease financing, you as the asset user have the choice at the end of the term to take over the asset at the defined residual value. Alternatively, you can return the equipment, e.g. because you want to purchase a new one.

This is the question we deal with in our Maturity Call. After working out your expectations, we determine together which Findustrial services or which ABO model best suits your needs.

As soon as we receive the signed cooperation agreement, we will contact you with a proposed date for the onboarding.

A key user for the platform is defined together with you. There is also a brief introduction of the Findustrial platform with the available features. For the next steps, contacts from marketing and IoT/IT are exchanged and the first workshop date is fixed.

Your company will be created on the platform by Findustrial and in the onboarding appointment the future key user will receive the access data for it.
